Paechon Line

}}
The Paech'ŏn Line is a partially electrified standard-gauge secondary line of the North Korean State Railway running from Changbang on the Hwanghae Ch'ŏngnyŏn Line to Ŭnbit.〔Kokubu, Hayato, 将軍様の鉄道 (Shōgun-sama no Tetsudō), ISBN 978-4-10-303731-6〕
==History==
This line was constructed by the private railway company Chosen Tetsudou (朝鮮鉄道) as the part of the 'Hwanghae Line'. On 21 December 1931 the section from East Haeju - Yŏn'an was opened with a track gauge of 762 mm. On 1 April 1944 the line was nationalised along with the rest of the Hwanghae Line and was renamed 'Tohae Line'.〔朝鮮總督府官報 (The Public Journal of the Governor-General of Korea), Shōwa Nr. 5143, 29 March 1944〕
After the end of the Second world war part of the Tohae Line ended up in South Korea, and passenger trains were running between Tosŏng and Ch'ŏngdan.〔百年の鉄道旅行(The railway travel-100 years): (The situation of the division of Korea )〕 However, at the end of the Korean War the line became part of the North Korean rail system. During the war, the bridge over the Ryesong River was destroyed and was never rebuilt, therefore the line was shortened. In the 1950s the name of the line was changed to the 'Paech'ŏn Line' and the railway was rebuilt to standard gauge.
